Robert De Niro (New York, 17. kolovoza 1943.), američki filmski glumac, redatelj i producent. Tijekom svoje karijere postao je jedan od najcjenjenijih karakternih glumaca svih vremena. Potječe iz umjetničke obitelji, njegova je majka bila slikarica, a otac slikar, kipar i pjesnik. Odrastao je u New Yorku, dijelu grada koji se naziva Mala Italija i s deset godina prvi je puta nastupio u ulozi plašljivog lava u školskoj predstavi Čarobnjak iz Oza. Majka ga je upisala u naprednu privatnu školu High School of Music and Art (New York), ali ju je napustio i s trinaest se godina pridužio uličnim bandama. Njegov otac nije odobravao ovakvo ponašanje, pa su njihovi odnosi poprilično zahladnjeli. Nakon prolaznog razdoblja mladenačkog bunta, upisuje se kao i većina glumaca njegove generacije na Stella Adler Conservatory učeći od Leeja Strasberga njegovu metodu.
